Day 3

We started out the morning at a cool 38 degrees but it was perfectly clear with just a slight breeze. A real nice morning to run bird dogs. Due to a couple of dogs being scratched due to injury and a couple of early pick ups we were able run 7 braces today and finished the trial today.

At the end of the day the judges named

Champion: My Mustang Sally Doug Ray

Runner Up Four River Commander.

I will have more Pictures later.

Day 2

Well we had a another pretty good day with birds in most bracee, we did have 2 more dogs finish the hour with clean bird work.
Hot Topic Kinkelaar and Mesaba Iron Don Dack both had good birdwork and nice races. However at the end of the day the same two dogs are on the leaderboard.

Day 2 morning

This morning it was 42 degrees and clear when we cast off. Had a couple of abbreviated braces and were back to camp early. We did have birds pointed in two of the three braces in the A.M.

Time to go to town for some dinner then back at it this afternoon.

Day 1

I would say day one was a success. We had absolutely perfect weather. We did move birds in every brace and finished the day with 5 dogs finishing the hour with clean bird work, when all was said and done we had work on pheasant, sharptails and huns. I will get some picture up later today, by interent was down last night or I would have had them up earlier.

We did have a change in the running order due to two scratches. In the 4th brace Offlee Amazin was scratched due to an bad foot I believe and Ridge Creek Jake had already been scatched in the 16th brace so Four River Commander was moved up and ran in the 4 brace.

Here were the 5 dogs that finished the hour with birdwork. In the order they ran.

Eye Candy SF Dean Lord

Four River Commander PM Shawn Kinkelaar

Hardup Road Jesse PF Doug Ray

Blackhawk Wiley PM Dean Lord

My Mustang Sally PF Doug Ray

The dogs that the judges are carrying at the end of day one, in the order they ran are.

Four River Commander 2 finds and unproductive.

My Mustang Sally 1 find and 1 unproductive.

      Pre-Trial Update

Well the entries are is and the trial has been drawn. We drew 42 dogs for the championship and 12 derbies. The courses are all laid out and ready to go.

These are a bunch of really good dogs many of them champions. I am excited to see them all go. Also looking at the handlers I did a quick count and I think the handlers in this trial have won in excess of 100 championships everywhere from The Northeast to the Northwest and from ND to Texas from Georgia to Canada. These handlers have won on quail, chuckar, prairie chickens, sharptails, huns, pheasants, ruffed grouse and woodcock. They have won National Championships on just about every game bird also. The amount of experience is staggering. Its almost hard to comprehend that the guys coming to run in this trials as a group have won championships in every venue from the grouse woods to all age, both walking and horseback shoooting dog. It will be fun. I will try and keep the blog updated on a nightly basis, and hopefully we can get some good photos to share.

Thats all from the farm tonite.
